A Farm Steeped in Heritage and Elevation
This special single-origin coffee comes from Kariru Farm, a family-operated estate since the 1960s, nestled in the fertile hills of Kirinyaga County on the slopes of the iconic, snowcapped Mount Kenya. At elevations between 1,600 - 1,900 MASL, the coffee cherries benefit from the perfect harmony of highland climate, crisp air, and evenly distributed rainfall. Combined with year-round equatorial sunlight, these conditions allow the cherries to mature slowly and develop a vibrantly rich aroma and exceptional character.
The farm’s deep, well-drained volcanic soils, rich in organic material, further enhance the complexity and strength of each bean. Before processing, every cherry is hand-sorted ...a meticulous step that removes underripe or overripe fruit that could impact the clarity of the final cup. It's this kind of dedication, rooted in generations of knowledge, that elevates Broad Reach into a class of its own.
Crafted Through Careful Processing
Broad Reach – Kenya Kirinyaga Washed is produced through a washed process, followed by slow sun-drying on raised beds ...a traditional method that enhances brightness and detail while preserving the integrity of the varietals: SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11. The result is a beautifully clean cup that allows its natural flavors to shine.
