At Skipper’s Remedy®, every limited release tells a story of place, people, and purpose. Outhaul - Guatemala Huehuetenango is no exception. Crafted for our Navigator’s Reserve, released as a Limited edition for Coffee of the Month January 2026, this medium roast invites you to ease the lines, fine-tune your course, and savor a coffee shaped by patience, perseverance, and precision.
This offering is a Single-Origin Guatemala coffee from Chimiche, San Pedro Necta, Huehuetenango, grown at elevations of 1,500–1,900 MASL ...a region celebrated for producing some of the most vibrant and complex coffees in the world. Cultivated from Bourbon and Caturra varietals, the coffee is fully washed, fermented for 28 hours, then patio-dried for 10 days, a meticulous process that preserves clarity while enhancing sweetness and aromatics.
In the cup, Outhaul - Guatemala Huehuetenango delivers a beautifully balanced experience. Expect delicate acidity with bright notes of apricot and clementine, layered over milk chocolate sweetness. The body is light and juicy, finishing with a graceful floral aftertaste that lingers like a steady breeze at sunset. It’s a coffee that rewards attention ...refined, expressive, and remarkably smooth.
Behind this exceptional lot is Jorge Méndez and family, whose journey embodies the spirit we value deeply at Skipper’s Remedy®. “I just wanted to own one coffee plant,” Jorge recalls ...a dream born at just nine years old while picking cherries on Finca El Limonar for 25 cents a day. Those long days on steep slopes taught him the value of coffee and planted the seeds of a future that once seemed out of reach.
Through years of dedication, Jorge saved enough to purchase his first parcels of land ...El Apiario (The Apiary) and El Panal (The Honeycomb). At first, coffee struggled to grow at those altitudes, so Jorge planted corn while experimenting with new varieties, learning how to help coffee thrive where others thought it couldn’t. In 2022, after forty years of persistence, his story came full circle when he purchased Finca El Limonar ...the very farm where his journey began.
The land had been abandoned, but Jorge and his family restored it lot by lot, rebuilding the soil through organic practices and careful stewardship. Today, he works side by side with his children, who manage daily operations across all three farms while also caring for the family’s eight apiaries. What began as a single childhood dream has grown into a legacy rooted in family, resilience, and sustainable growth.
Much like adjusting an outhaul to dial in sail shape, this coffee is about thoughtful refinement ...balancing conditions, honoring craft, and trusting experience. Outhaul - Guatemala Huehuetenango is more than a limited release; it’s a celebration of dedication at every level, from farm to roast to cup.
As with all Navigator’s Reserve offerings, availability is limited. When this coffee is gone, it’s gone ...so set your course accordingly, and enjoy this exceptional expression while it’s on deck.
