Valentine’s Day has a way of sneaking up on us.
One minute you’re plotting courses and checking the weather, the next you’re realizing February 14th is right around the bend. Flowers, notes, shared moments ...remembering those little acts of love matters. And interestingly enough, coffee and tea may help with that memory.
A recent study titled “Coffee and Tea Intake, Dementia Risk, and Cognitive Function,” published February 9th, 2026 (link), set out to answer a simple but important question:
Is long-term intake of caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee associated with the risk of dementia and cognitive outcomes?
The researchers followed 131,821 individuals across two cohorts for up to 43 years, documenting 11,033 cases of dementia along the way. Their findings were striking:
- Higher intake of caffeinated coffee was significantly associated with a lower risk of dementia
- Decaffeinated coffee showed no significant association
- Overall, higher caffeinated coffee intake was linked to more favorable cognitive outcomes
In short? The caffeinated cup mattered.
Now, some may say to take this study with a grain of salt ...or see it as a convenient excuse to pour another mug. Fair enough. At Skipper’s Remedy®, we’re not here to prescribe anything or promise miracles in a cup.
But we are here to celebrate ritual, connection, and the small habits that make life richer.
Coffee isn’t just about caffeine. It’s about shared mornings, conversations that stretch a little longer, and moments where the world slows down just enough to notice who’s beside you. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or just another sunrise, those moments count.
So this February, don’t forget a gift for your Valentine. Maybe it’s flowers. Maybe it’s time together. Maybe it’s a thoughtfully chosen coffee or tea, brewed slowly and shared deliberately.
And if that cup also helps sharpen the mind while the wind fills the sails? Even better.
At Skipper’s Remedy®, we say this:
Enjoy a day on the open water. Let the wind power the sails. Let coffee and tea Fuel Your Crew™ ...mind, heart, and horizon alike.
Bold Crews Meet Bold Brews™.
